December 14th & 15th

Been busy on Friday nights at the store with Santa (Yup the big man himself seeing boys and girls)
So far we have had about 220-240 kids thru the store in total over 3 mights with one more night to go
Last night we had our yearly Art Hop, 30 business hosting artists and several had live music I was beat when I left Baker Allegan Studios at 11:00 last night they were the last venue open with artists.
This picture was taken after 9:00 last night. we had felters, painters, pottery people, photographers, weavers, soap makers, lampwork bead makers, and jewelry makers, & woodworkers all set up in this room/shop/gallery
This is a picture of my front store window, Santa and the elves are all animated(working) I bought them at Bronners in Frankenmouth, Michigan, they are the smallest of the commercial animations
Had this chair come into the local refinishing shop, and they wondered how the chair had been rushed,I told them it had to come apart, some how, there was 2 small screws that held it still and had to use a rubber mallet to take it apart.
I redid the seat it was one of those seats that are a pain, the sides angle back pretty sharply so the rush keeps sliding back, so had to tack it every few rounds, I also had to buy a couple new clamps to hold the back side up as when it was taken apart it only had the 2 front legs, my clamps were either to short or long,
now they have the seat to finish and deliver to the customer.
now I have 2 straight forward chairs to cane (hand cane) before Christmas

Allegan had its Christmas parade this Friday Nov23rd, and we host Santa Claus in our store so we had to do some clean out to make space for Santa, Mrs Claus, & Jingle the christmas Elf.  so above is a picture of Santa in the parade, just about stopping in front of my store.
Here shows Mr & Mrs Claus with a young lady telling Santa what she wanted.

here is another little one not talking but mom and dad got some pictures of her with the Claus's
and last weekend we had a big concert Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas Celtic fiddle and chello
and I did not have internet service except the small cell phone screen so basically no service but alas we are back amungst the real world wireless back up and running, something between the computer and the antenna but dave got her fixed YES!
shipped out several sets of chairs that had been done as well as got in a couple sets to cane and rush as well as a set of 4 ladder backs to do binder cane on
I had a great thanksgiving with my better halves Lori's family for lunch and went to my brother Bobby's for supper, so I was in a food coma for a few hours.

October 26th, 2012

Been a roller coaster of a weather week, wednesday and thursday upper 70s setting records and breezy, now Friday high of 48 and sunny, typical Michigan never boring.

Spent a coupe days in the after noon weaving a lincoln rocking chair out on my worktable outside so I could enjoy the sun and warmth, probly the last of that till spring,
now I am just putting the finishing touch on the rocker putting the binder around the edge to cover up the wooden holes.
and put out this 6 matching autum cups and saucers with matching cream and sugar along with 2 matching ash trays, and a single plate, kind of a mid century modern feel to it with the cream and sugar and the style of paint work.

also just got in more corks to make wine bottle stoppers out of knobs, as these make a nice host gift, as well Christmas gifts.

Well it is Saturday and I am in the store, its cold and rainy outside
so I have been rearanging the store a bit, so here is the kitchen utensils and pans, regrouped.
and the front corner of the store with a couple lamps lit, still some things just sitting around
a shot of the front window
the rest of the 1 show room window of the store.
had one chair caned already and got the 2nd one done so the cutomer can come pick up these two chairs and the desk chair that I reglued next week, I had thought these were a matched pair, but they were not,
and now the next project, recane the back of this lincoln rocking chair, already did the seat, now get the back done. Now to start weaving again!
had a lady bring in a couple of kero lamps for ceiling lamps she wanted converted into electric, so she can use them easy and safe. so I converted them
and they have the fabric covered electric cord and old style plug.
I had a 28 inch LeClerc loom in the front show room window, with a skeleton for Halloween, but some one bought it and took it home with them.
